The next AHCA meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 20, at 7:30 pm in the Career Center

Agenda will include:

        -- Budget and membership updates
        -- Park at S. Irving and 9th St.
        -- Continuing problems with installation of fiber optic conduit by E-Spire Communications and its subcontractor Fishel Construction         -- Installation of neighborhood signs
        -- Status of approved street lighting project for S. Irving between 2nd and 5th, 5th St. S. between Irving and Jackson, and 6th St. S. between Highland and Irving
        -- Priority ranking of the following proposed street lighting projects:

a) S. Jackson between 2nd and 5th

b) 7th St. S. between Walter Reed Dr. and Glebe Rd. and S. Highland between 6th and 7th

        -- Approval of the following proposed amendment to the Arlington Heights Neighborhood Conservation Plan:

"Traffic and pedestrian safety, particularly the safety of the children attending our two neighborhood schools, continues to be a high priority issue. Speeding and increased traffic volume associated with cut-through traffic repeatedly threatens the safety of our neighborhood. Therefore, we support appropriate traffic-calming measures within Arlington Heights that will effectively reduce the hazards associated with these behaviors."

        -- Spring Household Hazardous Waste Round-Up - Get rid of your unwanted paint products, flammable solvents, automotive fluids, garden chemicals, household cleaners, etc. Call 228-6832.

        -- Operation Fire Safe - Automobile child safety seat inspections, register your home for a safety inspection, receive a smoke detector. Call 228-4644.

        -- Building for Humanity Day - Donate usable residential building supplies, such as brick, vinyl siding, flooring, doors, lights, tools, etc. Call 228-6570.

        -- Compost Bins - Available on-site at $10 each. Call 228-6570.

        -- Pedals for Progress - Donate serviceable or repairable bicycles for people in poor countries to use as basic transportation. A $5 donation per bike is requested to offset shipping charges. Call 228-6427.
